If you’re a longtime iPhone user, you may soon be able to revisit some classic wallpapers with the upcoming iOS 18 update. According to the latest reports from the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple is set to reintroduce many beloved old-school wallpapers from the early days of the Mac and iPhone.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported, “Apple’s devices are getting new wallpaper packs, including Mac versions that reference old-school icons and slogans. The iPhone wallpapers will have options that look similar to early ones on the phone.”
While the specific wallpapers have yet to be confirmed, some popular ones expected to return include the original iPhone’s famous clownfish wallpaper, the Earth from Space wallpaper from the iPhone 3GS, and the live wallpapers from the iPhone 6s. Many users also enjoyed the wallpapers from the iPhone 6 series, featuring landscapes like mountain and night sky, wintry forest, and close-ups of the moon.
In addition to the nostalgic wallpapers, iOS 18 is anticipated to introduce significant updates, prominently featuring Apple Intelligence (AI). This new AI system is expected to bring AI-created custom emojis, new Vision Pro apps, and AI integration into various Apple first-party apps.
Other notable updates expected with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 include UI changes, RCS support in iMessage, and expanded customization options. Digital Trends will be covering the WWDC 2024 keynote from June 10 to June 14, where all the major announcements for iOS 18, macOS 15, visionOS 2, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18 will be detailed.
