Samsung has announced a delay in the release of its new Galaxy Buds3 Pro, moving the launch date from July 24 to August 28. The delay affects the $250 earbuds, which feature a new design shifting from the previous bean-like shape to a style resembling Apple’s AirPods Pro, including silicone ear tips. Reports indicate issues with these new tips, which some users have found to tear easily.
Samsung has confirmed that it has halted shipments of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro to retailers. As of now, the earbuds are no longer available for preorder on major platforms like Amazon and Best Buy.
In a statement to Android Authority, Samsung acknowledged “reports relating to a limited number of early production devices” and emphasized that it is addressing the issue with urgency. The company stated:
“We are urgently assessing and enhancing our quality control processes. To ensure all products meet our quality standards, we have temporarily suspended deliveries of Galaxy Buds3 Pro devices to distribution channels to conduct a full quality control evaluation before shipments to consumers take place. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Customers who already possess the earbuds are advised to contact Samsung directly or visit a Samsung Service Center. Samsung has also sent emails to some customers, offering a link to contact support for order cancellations or refunds.
The warranty on the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, as stated on Samsung’s website, covers defects but excludes damage resulting from accident, misuse, abnormal use, or unusual stress.
Issues with Silicone Tips
Although the Galaxy Buds3 Pro were set to release in the US on July 24, they have already been available for purchase in South Korea. Reviews and early buyers, including some from Walmart in the US, have reported issues with the silicone tips. The design, similar to the AirPods Pro, features tips that attach to a plastic ring on the earbuds. Users have reported difficulties removing these tips without tearing them, with some experiencing the silicone tearing immediately.
Samsung has published a support page in Korea with tips on avoiding damage to the ear tips, including avoiding excessive force or twisting during removal. Despite this, complaints continue to surface on platforms like Reddit and YouTube, highlighting the problem’s persistence.
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds3 Pro, while resembling the older AirPods Pro design, face criticism for apparent design flaws. The company’s response includes offering refunds and delaying the release to address these concerns. The revised release date in August will determine if these issues have been resolved and if the earbuds can meet consumer expectations.
